Cultural activities

Capital of Gaul under the Roman Empire, major culture and trading centre during the Renaissance period, strong industrial breeding ground in the nineteenth century, Lyons has become a large European metropolis. Now included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Lyons is categorized along with prestigious cities such as Venice, Prague, or Saint Petersburg.

Institut Lyonnais provides two kinds of activities in addition to language classes:

Every month, one or several visits or trips are organised in Lyons and its suberbs: museums, historic buildings, exhibitions, etc. The program of these visits is provided at the beginning of each semester or before 'Summer University'. http://www.lyon-photos.com/photos_2.htm

24/05/08 - Visite de Pérouges, medieval city. Price: € 19 (at least 15 participants).
Pérouges is a medieval walled town 30km north east of Lyon . It is perched on a small hill that over looks the plain of the Ain River. Today it is popular tourist attraction.

12/07/08 - 13/07/08 - Visit of Paris. Price: € 130.
Paris, city of dreams one of the most beautiful capitals of the world, hosts millions of tourists every year. Symbol of French culture, fashion and luxury.

16/07/08 - Visit of Vienne (Isère). Price: € 19.
Vienne, a gallo-roman city, and its surroundings have a 2500 years old historical heritage. Each year in July, Vienne hosts one of the most famous Jazz festivals in the world.

19/07/08 - Visit of Annecy. Price: € 39.
Annecy is located between Geneva and Chambery. It is named Venice of Alps. The Palais de l’ Isle is the symbol of the town and the most photographed monuments in all of France.

09/08/08 - Outing at the Lac d'Aiguebelette. Price: € 19.
Nestled in the foot of the Alps, in the Montagne de l'Epine, the Lac d'Aiguebelette is situated at the gateway of Savoy. It is the third natural lake of France. The magnificent emerald green colour of Lac d'Aiguebelette - its name means "beautiful little waters" - gives it a fairylike dimension of calmness and serenity.

Cluny, haut lieu of Christendom in Medieval city opens wide its doors to you and promises discoveries that will awaken the imagination and fascination of young and old alike.

22/10/08 - Visite de Beaune. Price: € 39.
Beaune is known for a city of Arts and History. The area around Beaune  the Côte de Beaune is known for its Burgundy wines.

24/01/09 - 26/01/09 - Visit of Venice. Price: € 200.
Venice is word – famous for its canals, piazza San Marco and its pigeons. It is built on an archipelago of 118 islands formed by about 150 canals.

A computer room is available with free Internet access (Wi-Fi) and a printer.
